The Land Transport Authority of Singapore has initiated an extensive regulatory investigation regarding the recent disruptions to trn services on the East-West Line spanning between Jurong East and Buona Vista stations, which occurred from September 25th to October 1st, 2024. Fifty companies were acknowledged by the Land Transport Authority LTA at the annual Safety, Health and Environmental Awards Convention ASAC, marking their outstanding contributions to workplace safety, health management, and environmental sustnability. Starting from the initial service hours on Tuesday, October 1st, full trn operations on the East-West Line EWL will be restored following a comprehensive review and testing process to ensure commuter safety. Please see the joint statement by LTA and SMRT for more specifics.
Considering ongoing efforts towards thorough testing and safety assessments, trn services on EWL will not be fully resumed until October 1st, contingent upon favorable weather conditions and successful completion of all necessary checks. More detls can be found in the attached news release.
LTA and SMRT engineers have been actively working through the night, identifying significant damage to track infrastructure and equipment alongside their investigation efforts. An axle box defect on the trn led to one bogie becoming dislodged between Dover and Clementi stations. Detled findings are outlined in the attached news bulletin.
On Tuesday, September 26th, there will be no service offered along the East-West Line EWL from Jurong East to Buona Vista stations due to planned mntenance and reprs. For comprehensive information on this announcement, please refer to the joint LTA-SMRT news release.
Trn services between Jurong East and Buona Vista on EWL will be susped on Monday, September 26th. Following an afternoon of mntenance operations following the cessation of rn activities, engineers are currently working overnight to ensure safety through comprehensive testing before resuming service.
Afternoon rns led to a temporary suspension of trn services between Jurong East and Buona Vista stations on September 26th. Engineers immediately initiated recovery efforts after the rn subsided, planning to continue working through night into the morning for comprehensive safety assessments.
