Global Virtual Classroom Initiative

Shangh Jiao Tong University SJTU is launching the Jiao Tong Global Virtual Classroom initiative to encourage our faculty members to collaborate with peers at universities worldwide in creating online, international learning courses. This program provide valuable and sustnable global experiences for all SJTU students through virtual exchanges that foster interaction between students from diverse regions and cultures.

The Jiao Tong GVC offers both synchronous and asynchronous academic courses taught entirely in English, catering to undergraduate and postgraduate levels across various disciplines including science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, ities, and social sciences. These courses will enhance students' understanding of global perspectives through interactive learning experiences facilitated by the virtual classroom.

The cost for these courses is covered by SJTU as part of our commitment to supporting international student exchange opportunities. During its implementation from 2021 to 2023, over fifty Shared Courses and Co-built Courses were successfully provided to partner universities and the Association of Pacific Rim Universities APRU, reaching nearly one thousand students from over fifty institutions across fifteen countries or regions globally.

Eligibility Requirements for Participants

To be considered for participation in virtual exchanges under this program, applicants must fulfill all prerequisites listed below:

1. Applicants enrolled at their home university during Fall 2024 semester.

2. English proficiency requirements:

   IELTS score of 6.0 or above, TOEFL iBT score of 80 or higher, or completion of an English-taught degree program documentary proof required.

3. Applicants should have a strong academic background relevant to the course they are applying for.

Application Process

To apply for these courses through the Jiao Tong Global Virtual Classroom initiative, interested participants must follow these steps:

1. Review eligibility criteria.

2. Choose suitable courses based on avlability and academic field interests.

3. Complete application forms online, providing required documentation as specified in our program guidelines.

4. Awt selection notification from SJTU.
